Subject: Staff Senate Elections Voting Process

Dear Colleague,

The nomination process for the staff election to the University Senate is now complete. The University Senate is an important advisory and legislative body that represents the entire community of faculty, students, staff, administrators and alumni to Rutgers’ president and boards. It is now up to you to vote for the candidates that you feel will best represent your interests on the Senate.

In order to simplify the voting process, a Staff Senate Elections website has been created. The website will give you an opportunity to learn about the candidates by accessing their personal statements, and allow you to vote for the candidates of your choice. You may access the Staff Senate Elections website at . Voting will begin on Monday, May 3. All votes are confidential and must be received by Friday, May 7.

After the votes are tabulated, a notification will be sent announcing the election results. Ten staff representatives will be elected to the University Senate for a two year term. Each campus will be represented as follows: Camden two seats; Newark three seats; New Brunswick five seats. Employees may only vote for representatives from their own campuses.

Please note that in Newark, the number of eligible nominees was equal to the number of available positions, so voting for/by Newark staff is not necessary this year. The senators for Newark are:

  • Crystal M Grant- Business Specialist (Arts, Culture and Media)
  • Daniel Schantz- Associate Director (Newark Admissions)
  • Permelia Toney-Boss- Unit Coordinator (Operations & Maintenance)

The election for Camden and New Brunswick is still being held, so please be sure to vote if you work on these campuses.

Thank you for participating in this important election process.
